Macho and I are way too handsome.

I posted about Macho’s story on my Instagram and a follower asked me to share the story on my Tumblr as well so here it is!

When I rescued Macho in January of 2012 he was just hit by a car. He had no form of identification so I took him home to spend the night to rest. I took him to the vet in the morning to see if he had a chip and it was discovered that his leg was broken due to being hit by that car and had numerous drugs in his system. He wouldn’t leave the warmth of my arms at the vet and that was when I realized I had just gained a sidekick. A few weeks after I got him, I was sleeping in bed with him by my side when a violent intruder entered my home. He protected me by attacking the intruder until he fled, even after being kicked repeatedly. He suffered multiple contusions and fractures from the fight but he probably saved my life. It’s been almost 3 years and I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

The shirt I’m wearing was sent to me by Black Mask Studios, a comic book and graphic novel publishing company. The design is a panel from one of their books, Liberator, that’s about animal rescuing vigilantes (I was also given a copy of the collection and it’s awesome by the way). The shirt is available at Hot Topic and the Liberator collection is available at their website. 30% of profits from their Liberator shirt and book sales goes towards dog rescues. I was asked to take a picture wearing the shirt to help promote the cause but I knew I couldn’t take the picture without having Macho in it.

Dog rescues are so important to me. I wouldn’t have Macho if it weren’t for the local dog rescue helping to pay my vet bills so I could nurture Macho to full health on multiple occasions. I wouldn’t have been able to afford it otherwise. Rescued dogs are just as important to me too. I wouldn’t have my life if it weren’t for my rescued dog, Macho. I am so incredibly thankful to have him.

Street Artists Cover Mexican Island In Murals To Help Save Sharks And Manta Rays - PangeaSeed

In collaboration with 1xRUN, Residencia Gorila, World Art Destinations and Juxtapoz Latin America, PangeaSeed are pleased to share with you the results of “Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition”. The week-long mural festival resulted in 14 amazing large scale ocean-themed murals on the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico.

Our goal was to raise awareness for the conservation of the ocean and greatly needed protection for the whale sharks and manta rays off the Yucatan peninsula, by means of art and creativity.

For this pioneering project, we collaborated with a select group of internationally acclaimed contemporary artists who were given the opportunity to swim with and study whale sharks and oceanic manta rays and experience these majestic giants in their natural environment. Both of these iconic ocean animals are listed as species threatened with extinction on the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species.

Inspired by their personal animal encounters, the artists created the murals to help educate and raise greatly needed awareness within the local and tourist communities as well as to highlight the benefits of ecotourism and the long-term sustainability of natural resources.
